 먼저 초(楚)에서 출현한 봉군에 대해 검토 결과 초 봉군의 설치 배경은 비록 논공행상의 성격을 띠었으나, 군사적 성격이 더욱 강하게 내포되어 있었다. 초혜왕(楚惠王) 시기 봉군 분봉은 초현(楚縣)이 중앙정부로부터 이반하는 것을 막기 위한 수단으로 이해될 수 있다. 그러나 이후 봉군은 봉읍(封邑)을 근거로 할거하였고, 이러한 봉군의 존재는 중앙정부에 큰 부 담이었다. 초도왕(楚悼王) 시기 오기(吳起)가 변법의 실패 이후 초 봉군은 계속해서 세습을 하며 전국시대(戰國時代) 말기까지 존재하였다. 다음으 로 봉군의 존재 형태를 검토한 결과, 전국시대 다수 확인되는 초 봉군의 존재는 모두 지역을 기반으로 한 세습 봉군의 형태를 띠었다. 몇몇 예외는 있었으나 이들 역시 그 신분이 종실(宗室)ᆞ세족(世族)에 국한되었다.
Abstract According to the review, the background of Chu's Fengjun had a stronger military character, although it had a distribution of honor nature. The Fenfeng of Fengjun during the Huiwang period can be understood as a means of preventing Chuxian from moving away from the government. However, Fengjun was later based on Fengyi, and its presence was a major burden on the government. During the Daowang period, Wuqi enforced Bianfa to suppress Fengjun's power, but Wuqi's bianfa was abolished after Dangwang's death. Chu's Fengjun continued and existed till the end of the era. Next, reviewing the formation of Fengjun, the presence of the Fengjun, widely identified in the era, was all in the form of a local hereditary army. Despite some exceptions, they were also limited to the Royal and other powerful families.
